Vitiligo and Its Symptoms

Vitiligo is a chronic skin disease that causes loss of skin color in patches. Vitiligo occurs when the cells that produce melanin die, or they stop functioning. This condition can affect any part of the body, and this patchy loss of skin color affects an individual's look. This condition mostly occurs when the body’s own immune system cells attack and destroy the skin cells that are responsible for providing color to the skin. The condition affects people of all skin types, but this condition is more noticeable in people with darker skin.
